Improving Google Rankings with Non-reciprocal Links
53In terms of SEO getting in-bound non-reciprocal links to your websites is very important as these raise the Page Rank of your site so it goes higher in Google's listings. Page rank is effectively a measure of how popular your site is on the internet. The more in-bound links you are the more popular your site is deemed to be. But more important than this is the type of links you have. Because of link sharing and varous other schemes for getting in-coming links with reciprocal linkage Google now counts non-reciprocal (ie one-way) links as giving your site much higher confidence.
As such if you have a number of one-way links to your site then your ranknig in Google will be better. Of course, Google expects that you will develop these links organically ie you will generate them based on people visiting your site and adding a link to it because the information proffered is useful, informative or authoratative. This is excellent if your site is already well-established or large. But what do you do if you have a new site or need to drive traffic quickly to a new region of your site.
One way to get in-bound links is to write articles to article sites. The other way is to register your site with link or site repositories. Most of these require that you pay something to get a permanent one-way link, though you can find a small number of such sites (with good ranking) that will cost you $1. What you need to be aware with these sites, however, is that if your site's not within the first 100 links on any given page then your site will never be indexed by Google and you will gain no page rank and no links to your site bacause of it! Also, if you can define your own anchor text to your site then this is more useful in terms of getting keywords indexed than if someone else adds the text themselves.
